amancor Chrome’s core business is the mining and smelting of chrome ore. We produce ferrochrome, which is used in different areas of the stainless steel smelting process. With an annual capacity of some one million tons, we are one of the largest integrated ferrochrome producers in the world.
Samancor Chrome is committed to continually develop and implement best practices. This is evident in the valuable contributions our employees make to all aspects of our operations, as well as to the communities in and around our business units.
Our culture of continuous improvement creates an environment in which individual ideas are tested and recognised, and creativity is awarded. As a traditionally smaller company, our employees also have access to and interaction with management, affording them excellent exposure to high level decision making and strategic processes. We encourage our employees to grow and reach their full potential by maintaining an individual development plan. In turn, we count on them to be committed to our company’s growth and success, to harbour a desire to learn, develop and be the best, to be team players and to have the courage to change. This gears our company for innovation towards a bright future.
What you will learn
Our graduate development programme stretches over two years, which is documented in a POE (portfolio of evidence). During this time, our graduates are exposed to all departments in the organisation, which enables them to develop an understanding of how the business functions, while simultaneously further developing their cultural and personal skill sets. Graduates also gain practical experience in their field of study and dedicated mentors monitor their progress and performance. Career progression is linked to the achievement of clear set objectives, which also encourages them to take responsibility for their own development. The sky is the limit!
Graduates follow a tailor-made, in-depth Graduate Development Programme that includes set performance objectives and reviews. This is done with the support of a dedicated mentor who will monitor their progress and will be at hand to share career development advice.
Graduates maintain an Individual Development Plan which will indicate formal courses or work experience needed to support identified career choices and progression.
Graduates will receive adequate assistance when applying for advertised internal vacancies once they have completed their Graduate Development Programme. Mentors and qualified HR personnel will coach and guide them through the various phases of the recruitment process.
